The residential units of Mandakini Educational Welfare Society serve as an extended family setting. Being a part of this extended family help the students in building positive characters, a strong sense of community life and helps to produce productive global citizens. Functioning well within this setting also requires co-operation, patience and tolerance. Residential unit rules and policies are governing tools, designed to assist the students with harmonious and positive living experiences at Mandakini Hostel.
Students residing in the hostel in the term preceding the one in which admission is sought are ordinarily given preference when allotting the rooms, provided their conduct, character and behaviour in the hostel of the previous period are found satisfactory.
In case of serious illness or infectious diseases a student may be asked to leave the hostel and stay with the Local Guardian.
Hostel students should be careful in the use of water and electricity. Students should switch off the light and fan when not in use.
Students will be held responsible for the damage to the room property (i.e.) fan, furniture, fittings and fixtures etc. Provided. They will be held responsible for any breakages, repair or loss caused to hostel and mess property. In all such cases the students have to pay the cost of such damages as fixed by the hostel in charge/administration in addition to expulsion from hostel.
The Warden, Hostel In-Charge will supervise and control the students in the matter of room and bed accommodation, discipline and general conduct and he/ she will enforce the rules laid down in these matters from time as required.
No day scholars, women/men, visitors/ guests will be allowed to visit the hostel without prior permission of the Warden/ Hostel in-Charge. Any student found to violate these rules will be expelled from the hostel immediately on the spot by Deputy Warden without notice and no hostel accommodation will considered till he/she complete the course.
Students are not allowed to stay in the rooms between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on all school days. During school hours no boarder is allowed to take rest in the hostel. Permission to be obtained in writing for any reason to stay back in the hostel during school hours.
Visitors to the hostel inmates will be required to write their names and address and the name of the student whom they want to see etc in the register kept with the duty security guard at the entrance of the institute. They will not be permitted to enter the student’s rooms in the hostel. They can meet the hostel inmates at the described area only.
Tampering with electrical wiring or fixing any electrical lightings or other fittings in room and common areas will be viewed very seriously and those involved will be expelled from the hostel without notice and penalty also charged.
Students are not permitted to use any other electrical equipment other than the ones provided by management.
Students are not permitted to use Multimedia devices. If found they will be impounded by the Hostel Super.
Students are not permitted to stick poster/ formula/ pictures of any type (including God and Goddess)/painting/ drawing or writing on the hostel walls.
Students are not permitted to break open their room lock or cupboard and cause damage for the hostel property. Only maintenance staff is permitted to take remedial measures in case of loss of key or otherwise. In such case students should inform Deputy Warden / staff in-charge to take immediate action. In the event of violation of the above rules by inmates they will be expelled from the hostel.
Since the room in the hostel are of sharing type, students need to keep their room lights switched off from 10:00 p.m. till 5:30 a.m. in the morning. In case if a student requires light for extra preparation he may use common corridor light. This is done to avoid misunderstanding among the inmates of the same room.
Boys/ Girls are not permitted to go out during working days without prior permission from Hostel Authority.
Students are not permitted to keep mobiles expensive things, jewellery and cash with them. Please note that institute shall not be responsible for their loss or theft or anything like that.
Rooms must be vacated immediately after the institution closes for vacations. Rooms should be maintained in a clean and tidy condition and open for inspection at all times students cannot claim to stay in the hostel during vacation period.
Ragging / physical or mental harassment / quarrels / misbehaviour / speech embarrassment in the hostel will be viewed very seriously. Hence it is advised to abstain from all anti social activities. Ragging is strictly banned by order of honourable Supreme Court. Hence all the parents and guardians of hostel students are advised to make note of it and advice their wards not to indulge in ragging.
Residential students are not allowed to keep cash money (pocket money) in their possession.
School has its own laundry and hence all the cleaning and ironing of clothes are done within the school premises. All the school uniforms and casual clothing must be clearly marked with the student’s name and class. The hostel does not take responsibility of any lost or damaged clothing.
Parents should strictly maintain visiting hours framed by the Hostel Authority.

Parents / Guardians should never send any cash, expensive gifts or jewellery to either the residential students or staff members.
Parents are advised to make all arrangement as per school calendar without exception.
Residential students will not be allowed to go out to collect their fees / pocket money from their local guardians.
Students are expected to make the necessary arrangement for long (summer, puja, winter) vacation, as hostel does not provide residential facilities during any vacation.
Parents / Local guardians should strictly maintain arrival and departure time of the students. Any early leave and late return must comply with the attendance policy and must be approved with the school authority with parent’s / guardian’s consent.
Without Gate Pass students are not allowed to go outside or get inside to the Hostel.
When the children are brought back to the boarding for the new academic year, it is compulsory for the parents to bring the children personally and carry the photocopy of ward’s annual report. This ensures an interaction between the parent’s and the hostel authority.
Specified return date of the exit pass must be strictly followed.
If the parent / local guardians fail to pay hostel monthly fees within 15th of each month, fine will be charged.
Any kind of hostel related fees once paid, is not refundable.
If a student under any special circumstances with the permission from the Principal & Hostel Super leave the hostel in between the session , he/ she may have to clear hostel fees up to the end of the session. Only after the clearance of the fees, he/she can leave the hostel.
Cleanliness of the hostel study hall, dormitory, corridor has to be taken care of e.g. paper or ink etc. Should not be thrown on the floor or wall.
Hostel parents / local guardians must bring the hostel visiting card during hostel visit.
